Analytical company Strategy Analytics has published a report on global laptop sales, which showed a tangible increase this year compared to 2019. Even Apple, which is not distinguished by its price modesty, got into the top 5 manufacturers, and almost half of all world sales fell on the share of two popular brands.
According to analysts' report, in the second quarter of 2020, about 50% of notebook sales fell on models manufactured by HP and Lenovo, which became the leader in the rating with 25%, or 13.6 million units. The American company showed a slightly smaller volume of deliveries - 24.8% (13.4 million copies). They are closely followed by Dell (15.6%), Apple (8.5%) and Acer (6.7%). The remaining 19.4% came from all other laptop manufacturers combined.
The increased demand, according to experts, is explained by the surge in the popularity of affordable laptop models for work and study at a "remote location" in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Whether this trend will continue in the future, the authors of the report do not yet predict.
